The Challenge – what did Metcloud want?
Metcloud approached Nomadic in February 2022 to hold talks about upcoming events in September 2022.
Metcloud required a stand design that would fit 6 x 3 backwall floor spaces. Their requirement was for the stand to be of premium quality to ensure it both looked great and was durable to last for many events and years. They wanted an eye-catching display to draw people to the stand and wayed it to be modular so that it could be adapted to various stand spaces and sizes and added to easily as the stand space grew.
There was also a requirement for the stand to be self-build as the original plan was for Metcloud to build the stand themselves and therefore ease of build in the solution was paramount.
The Process – Getting the right stand for Metcloud.
After the initial request, Metcloud and Nomadic Display had a meeting to gain a greater understanding of Metcloud’s exhibiting needs – to find out what Metcloud core activities would be on the stand and understand what tools Metcloud might need to assist in this.
Following the meeting Nomadic set about organising a no obligation free stand design for Metcloud. This was presented to Metcloud with the various cost options covering the purchase of the whole design/ hire of the whole design and unit breakdowns in the case Metcloud decided to proceed with the part purchase rather than the whole solution.
With each option, a production timeline was presented to Metcloud to outline the time Nomadic would need to produce the stand and printed media in time for the shows that Metcloud had planned in 2022.
From that point, Metcloud were left to have their internal discussions and to consider designs they had from Nomadic Display and various other suppliers they have talked to. While Nomadic remained at Metcloud’s disposal to answer any questions they might have along the way to their decision.
In July 2022, Metcloud approached Nomadic again to move forward with the process.

Nomadic Instand – Chosen for its ease of set up – its modularity and more importantly its unique no questions asked product guarantee on the frame and struts – one of the requests of the brief was a stand that would be with them long term and be durable. Evolve Mudular Counters – The choice of counters for Metcloud was difficult – they were unsure if they wanted one or two meters or two, one meter counters due to the different events. Fortunately, Nomadic we able to remove the need for Metcloud to worry about this with our amazing self-build Evolve Modular system – the modular counter system gives Metcloud flexibility of size at each event.
Change to Stand Plans made easy with Nomadic hire!
Initially, Metcloud went ahead with a backwall display option but as with all shows, complications arise – the first event stand got changed and became a corner stand and a side wall was then demanded by show rules.
A side wall at this point did not fit in with their short-term exhibiting needs and neither did the expense for something they would only use once. However, Nomadic were able to rectify this quickly while minimising the additional cost by using our exhibition stand hire service.
All original graphics for the backwall solution were still able to be used and the only additional cost was one-off side wall branded panels and a small amount for hire of the wall itself.
Time is important – why spend it building?
Once the solution was purchased further discussions were had about logistics and installation. Metcloud had originally planned to self-build with all of the available Nomadic systems set up instructions and Youtube videos.
However during further meetings we discussed all the add-on services Nomadic offered – for example our installation team, our storage service for Nomadic stands managed by our great team in the warehouse and our project management team for full event management, which includes everything from organising stand plans and health and safety paperwork for the build to ordering electrics and doing electric plans to ordering flooring/furniture TV / AV and other such things on behalf the client if required.
Metcloud decided during the meeting using Nomadic to assist with some of these services would free up their team time as well as remove the need to book additional hotel days to cover the build period and have people away from the office for longer than was needed. As such they now store the stand with Nomadic and use Nomadic for their builds and breakdowns, in addition, we assist with Health and Safety declarations and other paperwork as required. Metcloud has the added advantage of self-build for smaller events as they know Nomadic can send them the part of the stand they need and it is already geared to be self-built as it was originally designed.
To date, we have done two events for Metcloud using the stand – The first with the added hire due to the corner and the second as originally intended as a 6 Meter back wall solution.
It has been a privileged to work with Metcloud and we hope we can continue to deliver great-looking stands for their future shows.
