Getting to the NEC
The Birmingham National Exhibition Centre’s central location makes it an easy destination to get to for both national and international visitors, it does get busy so allow plenty of time for your journey.Whether you are traveling by road, rail or air, there are superb transport links.
How far is the NEC from Birmingham City Centre?
The NEC postcode for Satnav is – B40 1NT – so with a wide motorway network you’ll find the NEC easy to find. The NEC is signposted from major routes and motorways including the M42, M40 and M6, and once you arrive it’s just a case of following the signs to your particular exhibition space and parking close by. If you have chosen Nomadic Display as your stand contractor, we offer a complete transport logistics and installation service. If this is the case, you can just arrive and park in the relevant and usually signposted Car Park for the show. The NED have 22 electric car charging points available and that can be pre booked.
How close is NEC to the Airport?
If you are travelling from overseas or taking one of the many domestic flights that fly into Birmingham, there is a transfer available to the NEC. The rail link at Terminal 1 of Birmingham International Airport provides shuttle trains to the NEC every two minutes, and the journey takes just ninety seconds – it couldn’t be much easier!
What station is Birmingham NEC?
Birmingham International Railway Station is a ten minute walk to any of the NEC’s exhibition halls. There are also regular train services to Birmingham from stations throughout the UK, you may want to use the National Rail Enquiries journey planner to plan your journey.
Public transport to NEC
Getting to the NEC by bus is as easy! Hop on to a National Express, Megabus or any of the other coach services that go to Birmingham International Airport from towns and cities UK-wide every day. If you’re travelling from Birmingham city centre, you can take the number 900 bus or the number 97. You can also pick up the number 900 from Coventry or the umber 966 from Solihull.
Other Useful Information for Exhibitors:
- Plan ahead!
- Parking is free during set up and breakdown.
- Know your Stand Number and nearest VE (Vehicle Entry) Door.
- Look after your valuables and don’t leave them unattended on your stand.
- Cash points are available around the NEC
- There are two business centres for last minute printing and stationary.
- There is free Wifi available throughout the NEC but you should contact your show organiser for Wifi on your stand.
What is the near the NEC Birmingham?
The NEC hosts over 140 events every year so there is lots of choice available for every budget. With the International Airport close by, all the usual hotels such as the Hilton, Ibis, Crowne Plaza and Premier Inn are there, however, use TripAdvisor to look at smaller independent hotels and B&B’s in the surrounding area.
It’s really worth booking early as for the biggest and most popular exhibitions, accommodation near the NEC can book up months in advance. So, plan ahead! If you’re driving to the NEC, you might also want to check whether or not parking is included in the price of your stay.
There are plenty of ways to enjoy your leisure time. Central Birmingham is just a short train ride away but around the NEC there is also plenty of entertainment and restaurants. You’ll find Resorts World Birmingham; a state-of-the-art shopping and entertainments complex with a wide range of restaurants and bars.
